The Pro-Ashram Trust Nexus!

August 30, 2014

A few weeks ago, Sridharan, who is one of those anti-Ashram characters who represents Raman Reddy, Sraddhalu Ranade, R.Y. Deshpande and their band of self-opinionated trouble-makers, claimed that he has made a sensational discovery and that he has connected some dots which have led him to discover what he believes is a supposedly secret and unknown “pro-Ashram Trust nexus”!

Sridharan may be gloating over what he proclaims to be his great discovery, but unless Sridharan is from another planet or probably a distant moon is there any follower of Sri Aurobindo, the Mother and their Ashram on our Earth that doesn’t know that every well-wisher of the Ashram, every member of the Ashram (except those who turn hostile), every Ashram volunteer and donor are inevitably a part of the well-known and benevolent “pro-Ashram Trust nexus”? Does he not know that the majority of the people who are associated to Sri Aurobindo, the Mother and their Ashram, are not only openly and willingly a part of this “pro-Ashram Trust nexus”, but they are gladly and many even proudly so?

But should we be surprised if a character like Sridharan is trying to justify his unjustifiable actions against the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and merely echoes the muddled, illogical and contradictory ideologies of Raman Reddy, Sraddhalu Ranade, R.Y. Deshpande and other like-minded trouble-makers, whose single-pointed agenda is to satisfy their personal, limited and petty wishes, by trying to disguise and pass off their battles as something noble?

For instance let us take a look at one of Sridharan’s own, contradictory statements:

Sridharan states: “Let me first remind… that Sri Aurobindo Ashram (Pondicherry) is different from the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust (Pondicherry). The Ashram Trust was created by the Mother in 1955 for protecting the assets and properties of the Ashram, whereas Sri Aurobindo Ashram spontaneously began in 1926 when Sri Aurobindo gave “the spiritual and material charge” of his disciples to the Mother after the Siddhi Day. The Ashram is the spiritual institution and the Ashram Trust is only a legal body”…”

According to Sridharan’s own statements, we find that the Mother:

i) created the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust,

ii) created the Ashram Trust for protecting the assets and properties of the Ashram,

iii) did not make any difference between the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust and the Ashram; on the contrary the Mother made sure that if there was ever any doubt  in anyone’s mind that there were two separate entities like the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust and the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, their doubts were settled by the Mother when She formed one, single Trust, which since that time has been synonymous with the Ashram.

It is therefore not surprising to see that Sridharan, Raman Reddy, Sraddhalu Ranade, R.Y. Deshpande and their anti-Trust fellows are finding it increasingly hard to justify and defend their arguments or actions which depend entirely on the erroneous premise that the Ashram and its Trust are two separate entities. Because the basis of their arguments and actions is not only flawed but also contradicts the Mother’s own actions, they are compelled to try to present all sorts of convoluted, muddled and illogical arguments to try to convince some people that the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust and the Sri Aurobindo Ashram should be divided, segregated and dealt with differently.

But we need not argue with these trouble-makers, because unfortunately for them, this is not the first time that a scission of the Ashram has been attempted by power-hungry, self-centered, ignoramuses like them, and they are at best merely copy-cats of others who were also looking for their moment of glory, personal satisfaction and gains, at the cost of the Ashram. Such trouble-seeking egotists have in the past tried to raise their ugly heads only to find themselves fade away into irrelevance and relegated to an infamous past.

It is also greatly ironical that self-proclaimed standard bearers of Sri Aurobindo’s Integral Yoga like Raman Reddy, Sraddhalu Ranade, R.Y. Deshpande believe that the principle of “dividing and ruling” that Sri Aurobindo himself worked against both as a freedom fighter and a seeker of spirituality, is more worthy to them than the principles of unity and harmony that Sri Aurobindo and the Mother espoused, encouraged and established in their own Ashram!

Those like us, who voluntarily choose to follow the teachings and path of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, who by supporting their cause and mission, in one way or another, become part of to the “pro-Ashram Trust nexus” do not need complicated arguments to justify our position. However, if these anti-Ashram elements still insist and want to try to convince some of us to get converted to their divisive and destructive, anti-Ashram movement, let them answer just a few simple questions:

– Was the Mother “pro-Ashram Trust” or not when she founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust?

– As the Mother established the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust to ensure greater protection for Sri Aurobindo’s, Her’s and their followers’ spiritual work, how does attacking the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust help anyone?

– As the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust was created by the Mother to also protect  the properties and assets that belong to the spiritual institution, who gains by making these assets and properties more vulnerable when the Ashram Trust is attacked?

– Lastly, how is it that  real estate tycoons, land-craving politicians, and other vested interests – exactly the kind of elements from which the Mother wanted to protect the Ashram – are backing anti-Trust elements like Raman Reddy, Sraddhalu Ranade and R.Y. Deshpande, helping them to split, weaken and break the Ashram apart? Is such a planned, well-coordinated collaboration which includes significant financial support, just a mere coincidence?

  1. You have written “but unless Sridharan is from another planet or probably a distant moon”.

Moon , he is not but …lunatic… I am not sure.

And if Sridharan is indeed a planet, he is certainly a strange planet for he not gravitating around any Sun … but some others who seem to have a close connection with the moon.

  2. Pro-Ashram Trust Nexus
I find the terms like ‘Pro-Ashram Trust’, ‘Pro-Ashram’ or ‘Pro-Mother’ indistinguishable in their essence, because for us not only the Ashram but also its Trust is Her creation. There is no scope for doubt in this matter for those who love the Mother, even for those who are acquainted with Her Teachings and are not prone to read the meaning convenient to them therein or prone to misapply the same for their ulterior gains. Regarding the term ‘Nexus’, I say, it is quite appropriate if it connotes the closer relationship of a person with any of or all the three, the Mother, the Ashram and the Ashram Trust, with a clear understanding that the relationship with either the Ashram or the Ashram Trust is only a corollary of our relationship with the Mother. It is a simple relationship between the Mother and Her devotees who consider them to be Her children only. For us to be Her children, truly and sincerely, has been our aspiration and the mission of life.
Unfortunately, these so-called devotees who claim to have made “a sensational discovery by connecting some dots of a secret and unknown Pro-Ashram Trust Nexus” have given a negative hue and color to an otherwise neutral word “Nexus” by employing it indirectly to connote a secret alliance, might be of the nature meant to serve a dubious cause. While doing so they have only seen in our most simple relationship, the reflection of their own image, like a person who sees a snake where there is simply a rope, to use a Mayavadin illustration. The devotees who have joined the Ashram and those others like us who share their aspirations while not physically being in the Ashram all the while, having done it voluntarily and not as a consequence of any enrollment drive, and obviously not for any worldly gains. We do it obviously not in order to oblige the Ashram or its Trustees or even the Mother, on the contrary we feel obliged for getting such opportunity to be associated with this great mission that the Mother has undertaken. Hence, a question of a secret pact between us and the Mother or with the Ashram or even with its trustees has no relevance whatsoever. Our relationship is sacred for us and it was there long before the so-called discovery of the mysterious nexus and has continued thereafter and would remain unaffected by this Anti-Ashram drive, which is virtually an Anti-Mother drive only. For us this relationship, whether it is denoted by the word “Nexus” or by any other word, it does not matter which word is used, has its intrinsic value and not the instrumental one.
On account of this incontrovertible fact we are not required to hide our identity behind any pseudo-name like Sridharan or like of it as friends who have made this phenomenal discovery of the so-called “Nexus” are required to do and remain busy in continuously fabricating and propagating falsehood under the cover of clinging to truth, or seek an out of the way favor of politicians and super-lords of the business world to carry forward and succeed in their ill conceived and shortsighted pseudo-spiritual mission. For us who are thus branded by the use of the word “Nexus”, favor of the Mother or rather Her Grace and Love is sufficient not only to meet this inconceivable attack on Her work in the Ashram, but also for fulfilling our mission in life. It is quite shocking that these friends are planning and executing this attack and pushing the same to its ugliest logical end, while taking fullest advantage of the facilities available here in this benevolent Ashram. The words “ingratitude” or “disloyalty” fall short in adequately describing their behavior. It would be a matter of great surprise if their newly found bosses with great power and money at their disposal would ever tolerate such deviations, which just amounts to treachery. Is it because their conscience has retired for the time being or even permanently? Govardhan Dave

I am convinced this blog is actually run by the same elements who want to destroy the Ashram and also the same people who collaborated shamelessly with a foreign author and gave access to archives without following due process
In the Sisters suicide issue the current management has to answer many questions actually

For gods sake stop this nepotism and hypocrisy
