An untrustworthy Sraddhalu Ranade speaks about the S.A.A. Trust

June 22, 2013

In response to Sraddhalu Ranade’s deliberate misrepresentation of facts, distortions and lies that are contained in his speech on Affirmative Spirituality at Ahmedabad, another serious misrepresentation of facts committed by him has been exposed. As always, Sraddhalu Ranade twists facts to malign the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and its functioning.

In this instance Sraddhalu Ranade wishes to create the wrong impression to his audience that the trustees of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust are chosen in a manner that is arbitrary and contrary to what the Mother had established. He wants his audience to believe that the present trustees are not entitled to occupy their position and he is therefore justified to challenge them and seek their expulsion. However, as we can see below, this is far from the truth. The following presentation of facts has been re-adapted from a write-up that was prepared by a former student of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Center of Education.

How can one expect Sraddhalu Ranade to do basic fact-checking? He and his group thrive on wild rumors  half-truths and outright lies. Here is an example. Sraddhalu says the following: “So when the Mother left her body there was nothing in the deed which empowered the Trustees to select someone else. But anyway they took somebody else and that is how the precedent was set that whenever one Trustee dies another Trustee is selected by the Trustees in secret discussion.” (Page 26 of his talk’s transcript) We have reproduced below what the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust Deed says under clause 9: “The Mother, in Her absolute discretion, shall appoint any other person or persons as Trustees with a view to make up the total number of Trustees to Five, and in case of Her retirement, for any reason whatsoever, the continuing Trustees shall appoint such number of new Trustees as shall be required to make up the total number of Trustees to Five.” (highlights added) Our question to Sraddhalu: Don’t you read what you yourself have filed in the court? We are sure you have read the Trust deed over and over again before filing your suit. Then why this deliberate lie? How many more lies have you repeated elsewhere? For example in your band’s complaints to the collector?
