Dear Editors

‘The Lives of Sri Aurobindo’ blog had recently posted an article titled “MPs seek Ashram explanation on Heeh’s book” published by the Times of India the link of which is given below.

I have heard that a second article was published as a sequel which covers the position taken by the Ashram in response to the MPs queries? Are you aware of this? If so, can you post it on your blog?

Regards

Prabhat Das

We have conducted a search and have found that indeed there was a second article which provided further clarification of the Ashram’s stand with regards to the “book row.”

We are reproducing the second article here:

To read the original article online, click here.

This article contains some significant details, especially with reference to the claims that are being made by H. Acharya et al., that the Managing Trustee of the Ashram as well as Prof. Manoj Das had denounced Peter Heehs’ book.

The earlier accounts on Prof. Manoj Das’s views (Part 1 & Part 2) made it unambiguously clear that Prof. Manoj Das never denounced the book.

The article above from the Times Of India makes it equally clear that there is no question of the denouncement of the book or of any U-turns by the Ashram. With regards to the spreading of misinformation that the Managing Trustee denounced the book, it is clearly stated that the Managing Trustee “and other members of the organization exchanged views in the early days of the controversy” and “if one reads the entire communication, a very different evaluation will emerge” on the stand of the Managing Trustee and the Ashram, which is neutral.
